Labor Day, a brief rundown
1) an American Federal Holiday observed on the first Monday in September that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers, whom make up the backbone of our (faltering) U.S economy.
2) symbolizes the end of summer for many Americans, and is celebrated with parties, barbeques, etc.
3) an important sale weekend for many retailers in the United States. Paradoxically, because of the importance of the sale weekend, many of those who are employed in the retail sector not only work on Labor Day, but work longer hours. (not much of a celebration is it?)
4) a three-day weekend for some people.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY…
5) Labor Day signals the beginning of the NFL SEASON!
